Former Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba has admitted to getting professional help for a pornography addiction that started aged 9 and said he was ‘terrified’ to share his story
Strictly Come Dancing‘s famous stars have been responding to former winner Ore Oduba‘s admission about his pornography addiction. Ore revealed that he is getting professional help after his addiction to viewing adult material began when he was only nine years-old.
Ore revealed his addiction to pornography on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast. A clip of the episode was shared on Instagram and fans flooded the comments with words of support, including a few Strictly stars of the past and present.
Vicky Pattison, who is currently on the show and partnered with Kai Widdrington, said: “I love you, Ore. Well done, babe.” Meanwhile, Amber Davies, who is competing with Nikita Kuzmin, said: “I am so proud of you.”

Melvin Odoom put a simply message of support in the comments of a grid post about the podcast. He commented single red heart.
Melvin competed in the same series as Ore. While Ore, and his partner Joanne Clifton, went on to win the show, Melvin, and his partner Janette Manrara, was the first out.
In response to the supportive comments from fans, Ore said: “I’m already on the edge of tears with you all and your kindness… thank you for such love. I really hope this conversation can make a difference”
On the podcast, Ore revealed his porn addiction to highlight the issue of children seeing sexual imagery on social media. Ore said: “This is me putting my life as it is on the line, to save my children and to guide anybody else’s children going into a world where at their fingertips, they can fall into something they never asked to.”
The father of two said he was first shown explicit images when he was nine, by a friend’s older brother. He said he wasn’t immediately addicted but it was easy to find more images and he was intrigued, but felt shame at looking at them, so never told anyone. The behaviour continued for decades.
“”It’s something that I knew I needed to address,” he said. “But when I saw what’s happening from a societal level in this report about other children, I thought, I can’t keep quiet about what I suffered, went through and escaped, only to save my children.”
He continued to say that he was “terrified” because his life would change now that he has revealed his addiction. “The vast majority is terrified because I feel like, personally, for me, the rest of my life begins the day after this, as it’s a kind of a seminal draw-the-line moment.”
Ore made a name for himself as a presenter on CBBC’s Newsround from 2008 to 2013. He won Strictly in 2016 and has a son and a daughter with TV researcher Portia Culmer. The couple broke up in 2024.
The interview with Ore is on the We Need To Talk podcast with Paul Brunson, which is out today.
