Strictly Come Dancing star JB Gill has opened up about his wife Chloe’s reaction after discovering messages from other parents on his phone
A Strictly Come Dancing favourite JB Gill’s partner was left stunned after discovering “weird” messages on his mobile. The JLS vocalist met Chloe back in 2008 whilst she worked as a backing dancer.
Romance blossomed between them and they exchanged vows in 2014. They’re now proud parents to son Ace and daughter Chiara.
Speaking on the Netmums podcast with Ranvir Singh, JB disclosed that he frequently chats with fellow parents during school drop-offs or whilst accompanying his kids to various activities.
However, this has led to some parents trying to connect with him through direct messages. The 39-year-old confessed “I don’t read my DMs” as Chloe takes charge of monitoring his inbox.
This arrangement led to an awkward incident when a woman sent him a message that Chloe ended up reading. JB revealed she “wasn’t happy” upon seeing it, reports the Express.
He explained: “I promise you, this was years ago, we were doing swimming lessons with Ace, and I very rarely took Ace swimming Chloe did the bulk of it, and I took Ace swimming and the girlfriend or wife of the swimming teacher DMed me basically saying, ‘It’s amazing that Ace is doing swimming, you guys should come over for dinner.’ And all this sort of stuff.
“It was like the personal connection and I was like, ‘No, this is weird.’ And Chloe obviously wasn’t happy about it. For me, I would just have a conversation with somebody.”
The discussion unfolded after Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir, mum to 13-year-old Tushaan with former spouse Ranjeet Dehal, admitted she finds it difficult to keep up friendships with fellow parents.
She explained: “As he gets older, he doesn’t want to sit on the sofa under a duvet and watch a Disney film with you, they want to be doing stuff, he wants to be doing active stuff. So for that reason I’ve made a really good effort to try and be friends with parents.”
Opening up candidly, she continued: “But I do struggle, and this is a moment of honesty, I do struggle to maintain friendships with parents when you know you’re only friends because the kids are friends, and sometimes there have been the odd occasions where I have remained friends even when our children have slightly drifted apart, and that has sometimes been the beauty of the odd friendship here and there.”
The broadcaster then revealed she becomes “incredibly self conscious” during school gate conversations with fathers.
She shared: “I felt that since he was a baby, I’ve always felt incredibly self conscious chatting too long to the dad or whatever. I always felt like I don’t want anyone to think I’m honing in. It’s in my head.”
Meanwhile JB, who came second in the 2024 series of Strictly, revealed he’s quite the opposite, describing himself as a “very open person” who relishes conversations with other mums and dads. He expressed: “I’m a very open person and I’ll go up to someone and have a chat and I’ll stand waiting for the kids to come out and just be like, ‘Hi Ranvir, how’re you? How’s Tushaan getting on?’ And all that sort of stuff and I suppose that’s probably part of, I guess, my work and my career and how I’ve developed as an individual.
“But for me, if I know that your child is in my child’s class and they have a relationship with each other and I know who that child is, for me, I’m going to inquire about it, it’s not me trying to be forward or anything like that.”
