La Voix escaped this weekend after a show of support from Strictly Come Dancing viewers – and some think they know why the drag star has the public on her side
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing think they’ve figured out the real reason why La Voix remains in the competition – despite her dreadful scores.
Shirley Ballas raised eyebrows as she hit La Voix with a brutal score of just two points on Saturday night, claiming she “can’t judge” the routine at all. The iconic drag star and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec performed a dramatic Cha Cha Cha packed with theatrical flair and full of facial expressions, but their footwork failed to land with the panel.
Overall, they scored a measly 14 points – landing them at the bottom of the leaderboard and putting them in dance-off danger. Speaking to presenter Claudia Winkleman after the performance, La Voix looked deflated and admitted: “That was terrible,” and was visibly emotional as fellow contestants rushed over for a supportive group hug.

But while the judges, Shirley, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood don’t seem to be backing her, plenty of people at home are. Viewer support was evident on Sunday’s show when the public vote was taken into consideration – saving La Voix from the bottom two and keeping them into the competition for another week.
Some fans say they are throwing their weight behind La Voix because of her brilliant bond with Tess Daly. Many love the relationship between contestant and presenter – and how the drag star loves to rib Tess about what she’s wearing – including praise for “going from bath mat to bedsheet in one week”.
“I’m purely voting for La Voix so they can continue to take the p**s out of Tess on a weekly basis #Strictly” one wrote. Following the weekend exchange, another said: “La Voix needs to stay in for her bants with Tess.”
A third person said on the platform: “May have accidentally, on purpose, voted more than once for La Voix so she can carry on taking the mick out of Tess’s outfits. Oh & possibly once for the best rumba of the evening by Alex & Johannes. #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly“
Chris Robshaw was voted off Strictly Come Dancing on Sunday, becoming the third contestant to leave the show. The former England rugby captain, 39, and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova, 36, landed in the dance-off against EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal.
It followed Chris and Nadiya scoring 24 for their salsa to Ricky Martin’s María during Saturday night’s show. Meanwhile, Balvinder, 46, and her partner Julian Caillon, 30, earned 28 points for their paso doble to Diablo Rojo by Rodrigo y Gabriela.
Craig Revel Horwood – who this week was the judge with the casting vote – chose to save Balvinder and Julian. It marks the first week on Strictly where the show’s ‘deciding twist’ vote has had a big impact on the elimination.
This year, Strictly introduced a rule where head judge Shirley Ballas no longer gets the deciding vote, with it rotating among the judges each week. Tonight was the first time in the series where the deciding vote has mattered, with both Shirley and Craig Revel Horwood voting to save Chris, while Motsi wanted to save Balvinder.
If Shirley still had the deciding vote power, the EastEnders star would have become the next contestant to leave the show. When asked by Tess about his time on the show, Chris said, “I’ve loved it. I’ve had an amazing partner. For me, coming onto this journey, I had no confidence. To be told I had world class qualities on the dancefloor today, even though we have to go home, that’s amazing to hear so thank you very much. It’s given me such confidence.”
Chris then added, “To my partner Nadiya, I’m sorry. But it’s been an amazing journey, she’s been a brilliant teacher, I’ve developed so much, and it’s been a great ride – so thank you.” Meanwhile, Nadiya praised the star, admitting, “I saw all the qualities that made you the captain of your country. To watch you [go] from a non-dancer and non-performer [to then] blossom, improve and develop. Sometimes on this show you win by getting a glitterball, but I feel this year I won just getting you as my partner.”
