Comedian Ellie Taylor starred on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2022 and has now turned her attention to a very frustrating issue

Comedian and TV star Ellie Taylor trekked across London in full hiking gear today to protest against soaring mobile phone bills.

Kitted out with a heavy backpack, hiking poles and a buggy Ellie, who’s joined forces with Lebara, was spotted stomping across Westminster Bridge towards Parliament and other landmarks.

The former Strictly star and the mobile network are calling out the annual household bill surge and showing mobile customers don’t have to accept rising prices as inevitable.

Lebara research revealed that 83% of consumers say everyday life in the UK constantly feels like an ‘uphill battle’.

Of the 2,000 Brits quizzed, almost half (46%) say they still feel unprepared for the latest hit to their bank balances, and 26% say they feel like they’re on a ‘constant climb’ just to stay afloat.

The survey revealed 86% feel their monthly bills have shot up over the past year, yet nearly one in five (19%) have never even checked their contract since signing.

The rising costs are making many feel frustrated (42%), anxious (41%), and overwhelmed (32%).

Ellie said: “Every April it can feel like your bill has been written in ancient hieroglyphics – with extra charges, confusing fine print and prices that seem to rise each year for the same thing.

“I’m teaming up with Lebara to march across London and call out the nonsense, because life is stressful enough without bills piling on the pressure.

“This April, we’re turning bill pain into laughs and showing Lebara has your back.”

Mayur Jauhari at Lebara Mobile said: “Life feels steep for a lot of people right now, families are juggling rising costs everywhere they turn.

“While we can’t flatten every hill, we believe your mobile bill shouldn’t add to the climb

“At Lebara we offer simple, contract-free plans from £5 with fair pricing and no annual price hikes.
