Suniel Shetty recently opened up about Shah Rukh Khan and the kind of stardom he enjoys, not just in India but across the world. In a chat with Raj Shamani, Suniel reflected on what truly sets SRK apart and why very few have been able to reach that level of fame. According to him, it is a mix of talent, timing, music and relentless dedication.
Explaining his point, Shetty said, “Because he had music. In India, music matters. He had Yash (Chopra) Ji with him and the best songs. His commitment to his craft. Reinventing and inventing himself all the time, the grace. He’s complete from a human perspective. The respect he gives and expects- he’s there when he’s needed.” He credited the powerful combination of strong musical backing and SRK’s constant evolution as key reasons behind his unmatched popularity.
During the same conversation, Shetty also pointed out that SRK does not rely on social media to stay relevant. He shared, “He’s not about social media. He’s not about posting. He has a yesteryear charm, which many of the earlier stars had.” He added that while the current generation feels the need to constantly share updates online, some stars choose to let their work do the talking. Taking Ranbir Kapoor as an example, he said, “But these guys aren’t that way. Like Ranbir – his charm is that he’s not there. He’s there where his work is. His work speaks, and the rest is for you to imagine.”
On the work front, Shetty will next be seen in Welcome to the Jungle directed by Ahmed Khan, alongside Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. He is also part of Hera Pheri 3 with the original cast. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film will also feature Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Anil Kapoor. The film is slated to hit theatres on December 25, 2026.
