Sydney Sweeney revealed her striking new look as she stepped out on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie. The Euphoria star looked effortlessly glamorous as she posed outside the Los Angeles premiere for Christy on Saturday.
Sydney, 28, debuted a new shorter hairstyle, with her lightened locks styled in tousled waves that now end above her shoulders. She complimented the stunning change wearing a light pink halter-neck dress with a plunging neckline.
The elegant style featured a matching belt around her petite waist and a petticoat style skirt with a timeless lace overlay applied. Sydney opted for minimal accessories and a natural makeup look to complete her outfit.
The screening took place during the 2025 AFI Fest. In Christy, a biographical sports drama, Sydney takes on the role of former female boxer Christy Martin. She worked hard to fit the part for the role, gaining 30lbs in weight to have the correct physicality to portray Christy.
Speaking to Variety at the Toronto Film Festival last month Sydney described how she obtained the desired look. She said: “I had a nutritionist work with me as well as a weight trainer and a boxing trainer.
“We upped my calorie intake and I started taking a lot of protein shakes and supplements and eating everything. I ate a lot of Smuckers, a lot of PB and J sandwiches, milkshakes, kind of just constantly always eating because we were so active. I was constantly burning it all off at the same time. So keeping it all up was quite a challenge.”
She then admitted her delight at having made the movie as she added: “I’m just glad that Christy’s story is out there.” Sydney was recently slammed by fans over making ‘anti-female’ remarks.
The comments came after a backlash to her selling soap made from her bathwater. The Hollywood star addressed how she was criticised for her collaboration with Dr Squatch – a men’s beauty brand that focuses on natural, handmade bath products. Sydney started out posing for the brand in a few saucy campaigns, before collaborating with them on a limited-edition soap, which was apparently infused with her own used bathwater.
Naturally, the move sparked some controversy and in a new interview Sydney admitted that she does pay attention to what people are saying online, but tries not to let it bother her. She said: “I think it’s important to have a finger on the pulse of what people are saying, because everything is a conversation with the audience.”
She told The Wall Street Journal, “It was mainly the girls making comments about it, which I thought was really interesting.” She then referred to the famous scene in Saltburn where Irish actor Barry Keoghan’s character Oliver Quick is seen drinking the bathwater of Jacob Elordi’s character Felix Catton in a shock sexual scene as she jibed at other women adding: “They all loved the idea of Jacob Elordi’s bathwater.”
She sparked anger on social media with the comments as many slammed her for being “male centered.” One angry user wrote on X: “Not her trying to switch this on other women when her whole existence is so male centered.”
A second said: “This is incredibly stupid she actually thinks ‘the girls’ are just being unreasonably jealous of her as if she wasn’t setting feminism back hundreds of years.” A third shared, “I don’t like that she’s trying to act like women are hating/jealous bc they think bathwater soap is strange. It is a weird product, she should just own it.”
A fourth commented, “Am I crazy or does anyone else not remember anyone saying or mentioning anything about Jacob Eldori’s bathwater to a widespread extent?” A fifth scathed, “Let’s be real, nobody’s actually okay with anyone selling bathwater. She knew exactly what she was doing with the marketing, don’t try to flip it like it’s just ‘girls hating’.”
