A teenage boy is dead and two others are in life-threatening condition after crashing into a bridge west of Brisbane overnight.
Police said investigations suggested they had been in a Mitsubishi Lancer travelling west on Brisbane Road in Goodna when it crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a wall attached to the Ipswich Road overpass about 9pm on Wednesday.
Serious head, chest and abdomen injuries were reported by the Queensland Ambulance Service.
The trio were all fighting for their lives when taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
A 16-year-old boy from Redbank Plains, who had been sitting in the rear, was later declared dead.
The driver was a 17-year-old from Collingwood Park and the other passenger was a 16-year-old from Redbank.
Police said the Forensic Crash Unit and Ipswich Child Protection Unit would investigate the cause of the crash.
