The best dressed stars from the 2026 Oscars

Awards season ended with a bang tonight at the 2026 Oscars. Unsurprisingly, many Hollywood A-listers saved their best looks for last—arriving at the 98th Academy Awards in their finest formal attire. Would it be the Oscars without a little razzle-dazzle?

While traditional glamour certainly dominated the evening—think sharp suits and elegant gowns, two enduring mainstays on the Oscars red carpet—there were a few choices that felt just a little fresher, more modern, and not at all expected.

Naturally, many of the winning moments came from the Best Actress nominees. Rose Byrne opted for traditional glamour in her black strapless Dior number by Jonathan Anderson, complete with delicate floral embroidery. (The look was based on a look from Anderson’s recent spring 2026 couture collection.) Jessie Buckley opted for colour-blocking in Chanel, choosing a pink and red off-the-shoulder gown inspired by Grace Kelly that was both soft and romantic.

Best supporting actress nominee Elle Fanning chose a strapless white Givenchy gown by Sarah Burton—a little bridal and a little Grace Kelly, too, in the best ways possible. Full-skirted designs dominated the night, though others—like Supporting Actress winner Amy Madigan—chose suiting instead, opting for an embellished Dior jacket that shined in the lights.

On the menswear front, Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams looked dapper in his sleek black Balenciaga tuxedo, styled with a tonal collared shirt and brooch. Joe Alwyn wore a custom black Valentino suit, which was made more irreverent thanks to his loosely-tied bowed necktie. For the Hollywood gents, it was all about taking classic menswear codes and subverting them just a little bit—like Pedro Pascal, who eschewed a jacket for a white collared shirt and large chrysanthemum corsage.
