Guess Who‘s back?

Following a 23-year hiatus — during which bassist Jim Kale and drummer Garry Peterson formed an unauthorized tribute group —  lead singer Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman are reuniting for their summer 2026 ‘Takin’ It Back Tour.’

From May through August, the Canadian hit-makers will headline arenas, theaters, pavilions, casinos, music centers and amphitheaters all over North America with special guest Don Felder of Eagles.

That includes not one, not two, not three, not four but five (!) concerts in New Jersey and New York. They’re scheduled to take place at:

PNC Bank Arts Center
Holmdel, NJ
Sunday, July 5

Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater
Syracuse, NY
Tuesday, July 7

Jones Beach Theater
Long Island, NY
Friday, July 10

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Atlantic City, NJ
Saturday, July 11

Saratoga Performing Arts Center
Saratoga Springs, NY
Tuesday, July 14

“Randy and I are incredibly grateful that our music has endured all these years,” Cummings, 78, shared in a statement. “Knowing that people still want to hear these songs live means everything to us, and when we go out on stage, our goal is to truly honour the music.”

While we can’t say for certain what the group will perform at their live shows, we’d guess fan favorites like “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “No Sugar Tonight,” “No Time” and “Laughing” will make the set list based on what we’ve seen from Cummings’ solo shows and Bachman’s Bachman-Turner Overdrive gigs over the past few years.

“…it was great to hear the songs live and see what they were like when they were younger versus now,” The Post reported in an Aug. 2025 review of a BTO concert in Arizona.

“Randy’s solos are the best part. He has a nice, high-pitched, pleasant voice.”

Bachman-Turner Overdrive new music

On March 28, 2025, BTO dropped their first single in nearly 30 years.

The nearly four-minute barroom rocker — appropriately dubbed “60 Years Ago” — name checks Canadian rock heroes Burton Cummings, Buffalo Springfield, The Guess Who and more.

As an added bonus, the raucous ditty features a scorching guitar solo courtesy of The Godfather of Grunge himself, Mr. Neil Young. The song may be a last gasp for the aging rockers but also serves as proof positive that they still have gas left in the tank.

If you’d like to hear the rallying cry of a tune for yourself, you can find “60 Years Ago” here.

More about Bachman-Turner Overdrive

In May 2024, The Post spoke with Randy Bachman about the origins of their classic “Takin’ Care Of Business,” new music and career highlights.

“One night I’m driving to a gig in Vancouver and a guy comes on the radio station. He says ‘Hi, this is Daryl B and we’re taking care of business,’” the 81-year-old told us about how the iconic tune came to be.

Bachman wrote the title down and made the band play the song on the spot — unprepared and unrehearsed (!) — that night.

Yes, the memorable call and response “Takin’ care of business/Every day/Takin’ care of business/Every way/Takin’ care of business/It’s all mine/Takin’ care of business/And workin’ over time” was improvised.

“The crowd went crazy,” Bachman smiled. “We recorded it two weeks later and that’s what you hear.”

Guess Who band members

Cummings and Bachman won’t be the only musicians onstage at their 2026 Guess Who shows. Here’s who will be joining them when you see them live:

Sean Fitzsimons (drums, backing vocals)

Jeff Jones (bass, backing vocals)

Nick Sinopoli (percussion, backing vocals)

Tim Bovaconti (guitar, backing vocals)

Don Felder

From 1974 to 2001, Don Felder was the lead guitarist for Eagles.

Over those 27 years, he co-wrote “Hotel California,” toured tirelessly with the group and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Since he split with the group, he’s released three solo albums (along with 1983’s “Airborne”). If you’d like to check out his funky sound, you can find Felder’s vast back catalog here.
