Spicy Jhalmuri Recipe

Ingredients

- Aamchur (dry mango powder): ¼ tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Vegetables:
- Onion, finely chopped: 2 tbsp
- Cucumber, finely chopped: 2 tbsp
- Boiled potato, cubed: 10 cubes (about ½ cup)
- Tomato, finely chopped: 2 tbsp
- Green chili, finely chopped: 1 (adjust to taste)
- Ginger, finely chopped: ½ inch piece
- Other Ingredients:
- Tamarind pulp: 1 tbsp (or lemon juice for tanginess)
- Mustard oil: 2 tbsp
- Fried peanuts: 3 tbsp
- Sev (crispy chickpea noodles): for topping
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped: for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Puffed Rice:
- If the puffed rice is not crispy, dry roast it in a pan over low heat for about 2-3 minutes or microwave it for 60-90 seconds to make it crisp.
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the puffed rice with the spices (red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, chaat masala, aamchur, and salt).
- Add the chopped onion, cucumber, boiled potato cubes, tomato, green chili, and ginger to the bowl.
- Add Flavor:
- Pour in the tamarind pulp (or lemon juice) and mustard oil. Mix everything gently but thoroughly to ensure that the puffed rice remains crispy.
- Final Touches:
- Add the fried peanuts and sev just before serving to maintain their crunchiness.
