This Ranveer Singh look in Dhurandar holds a history as rich as the craft behind it

In a period film, costume often does the early world-building, sketching time and personality before a character speaks. In Dhurandar, Ranveer Singh enters that framework in a Divani look that pulls from the heritage of the Patiala khillat while adapting it for the film’s universe.

The centrepiece is a Shaneel jacket shaped from an archival reference—a nineteenth-century Patiala khillat once presented to the royal family of Patiala. Divani builds on that lineage through dapka embroidery, hand-filled detailing and zari paani, drawing directly from the archival khillat’s Tree of Life layout and reworking it with raised, light-catching embroidery that reads clearly on camera.

A handwoven taupe kurta and moonga-silk trousers sit beneath the jacket, forming a pared-back base for the reinterpretation.
