Three-vehicle crash involving stolen SUV leaves people fighting for life, traffic delays

People have been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and traffic backed up on a major inner-Brisbane road after a multi-car crash involving a stolen Range Rover early on Tuesday.

Police were called to Kingsford Smith Drive near Cooksley Street in Hamilton about 4.38am following reports a Range Rover, a Mazda CX-60, and a Toyota Hiace had collided.

Officers said the Range Rover had been reported stolen from a Broadbeach address overnight. Four people were arrested nearby.

Two adults were taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition. One had been trapped inside the car.

Two teenagers were taken to the same hospital with minor injuries. Another two were taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Eastbound lanes on Kingsford Smith Drive near the Cooksley Street intersection were still closed at 7.30am, and Google Maps showed extensive traffic across surrounding streets.

Police and ambulances were still on the scene at 7.30am. The Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.
