Throwback: When Nayanthara Won Her First Filmfare Award for Sri Rama Rajyam

Nayanthara had won her first Filmfare award in 2012. She won in the Best Actress – Telugu category for the movie Sri Rama Rajyam. In total, Nayanthara has won five Filmfare awards. She later went on to win an award in the Best Actress (Tamil) category for Raja Rani (2013), Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015) and Aramm (2017), as well as Best Actress (Malayalam) for Puthiya Niyamam (2016).


She gave a heartfelt speech while receiving her first Filmfare honour. The actress said, “Hello everyone. This is a very special day for me. It is a very special moment as this is my first Filmfare Award.” She went on to open up about the special moment, as she was holding the Black Lady for the first time.

Nayanthara portrayed the role of Seetha Devi in Sri Rama Rajyam. Her performance in the film focused on the emotional and heavily challenging phase of the Ramayana, including Sita’s exile, life in the forest and the Agni Pariksha that she had to go through. Her second win was in the Best Actress – Tamil category for Raja Rani. Taking the stage to accept the honour, she said, “Good evening, everyone. This is my second Filmfare and I’m really really happy that I got it for Raja Rani. Thank you Filmfare for honouring me with this award.”

It would be interesting to anticipate Nayanthara’s appearance at the 70th Filmfare Awards South with Kerala Tourism. The event will be held on February 21, 2026 in Kochi.
