
Amaravati: The IMD on Friday forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and hot, humid conditions across parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next five days.
According to the Meteorological Centre here, isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on April 10.
“Thunderstorms with lightning, along with gusty winds and prevailing hot, humid conditions, are expected to affect parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next five days,” said the Met Department in an official press release.
“Thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning is expected at isolated places, with gusty winds reaching speed of upto 40 kmph,” it said.
The IMD said on April 11, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema, with gusty winds continuing.
Similarly, on April 12, gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are expected at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, while hot and humid conditions are likely across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema.
From April 13 to 16, hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema, the department said.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said a north-south trough extending from interior Odisha to the Gulf of Mannar persists across south Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
It further noted that an upper air cyclonic circulation formed over north Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists over the region, influencing current weather conditions.
