Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with DUI following a car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, after refusing a urine test despite blowing 0.00 on a breathalyzer test

Tiger Woods has been arrested following a car crash on Jupiter Island, Florida. The golfing icon, who recently returned to TGL competition this week, was involved in a collision after attempting to overtake a pick-up truck.

While neither Woods nor the other motorist suffered injuries, the sporting legend has been arrested and charged with DUI after declining to provide a urine sample for analysis.

Although no alcohol was detected in Woods’ system, his refusal to undergo additional tests marks yet another troubling episode in the golf star’s chequered history. The incident occurred mere hours after Donald Trump weighed in on Woods’ prospects of competing at the Masters. Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek addressed the media during a Friday afternoon press conference regarding the crash and subsequent arrest reports the Mirror US.

Full statement

Just before 2pm, the Jupiter Island Police Department received a call of a rollover crash around two-and-a-half miles from where we are. We responded and found a pick-up truck pulling a pressure cleaner trailer and a Land Rover, which was rolled over on the driver’s door.

Our investigation revealed that the pressure cleaner truck was northbound on South Beach Road and was slowing down and pulling to turn into a driveway. The driver of the vehicle looked in his mirror and saw the Land Rover overtaking him at high speeds.

He saw it coming and tried to edge off to the side of the road but this is a small two-lane road and there was no shoulder for this vehicle to get off the road. As he was trying to do so, the Land Rover overtook him and at the last minute swerved to avoid a collision but clipped the trailer of the vehicle. The car rolled onto the driver’s door and the individual driving the Land Rover was able to climb out of the passenger’s door. He was identified to be Mr. Tiger Woods.

Our DUI investigators came to the scene and Mr Woods did exemplify signs of impairment. He did explain the injuries and surgeries he has had. They did several in-depth roadside tests and he was placed under arrest and taken to the Martin County Jail.

At the Martin County Jail and even on scene, we weren’t suspicious of alcohol being involved. Mr Woods did a breathalyzer test and blew 0.00s but when we asked for a urine analysis test, he refused. Therefore he has been charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
