2. Southerly Buster ran well when second as favourite at Gunnedah when last produced. He has a good record (two wins and three placings from eight starts) and looks set to run well again in this. 1. Ring Ahoy wasn’t beaten far when out of the placings at Armidale when last produced and has the talent to make an impact again here. 4. Invincible Red has been racing well of late and should be around the placings again on best form. 8. Fulmen Filou is a last-start Armidale winner that warrants respect.
How to play it: Southerly Buster to win.
Race 2
3. Compadre was down the track on debut at Scone but then showed improvement when fourth at Gunnedah at his second start. He looks set to peak here and should figure prominently. 4. Questionable ran her best race yet when third at Muswellbrook at her third start and should play a prominent part again based on that effort. 5. Race 3
4. Oenology raced in a prominent position and hit the line well to win at Scone when last produced. A repeat of that effort would have him hard to hold out here again. 5. Wolf Club resumed from a spell with a midfield effort at Mudgee and should run well again in this. 2. Shadow Dane has been racing well with a couple of wins at Coonabarabran and Wellington from his last four starts and should be in the finish again in this. 1. Broken Hero has been down the track in recent runs against tougher opposition and can improve here.
How to play it: Oenology to win.
Race 4
8. Night Fighter is a consistent performer with four wins and five placings from 23 starts. He was a strong winner at Coonabarabran three starts ago and then was midfield at Armidale before a last-start second at Scone. He has the form to be winning this. 1. The Dramatist resumed from a spell with a close second at Mudgee and has the ability to be a factor again in this field. 3. Stratified won at Warren two starts ago and wasn’t far away when placed at Mudgee when last produced. 4. Ancient Egypt won by a big margin at Gunnedah two starts ago and wasn’t far away at Taree at his
latest start.
How to play it: Night Fighter each way.
Race 5
1. Oakfield Utah is a gelding on debut after three good trials. Aaron Bullock takes the ride in this, and he should be primed to run a bold race. 3. Silent Serenade ran second at this track on debut and then ran third at her second start before being spelled. She should run well here. 5. Zecchini has
finished second in two of three starts and warrants respect again here. 2. Lady Billie formerly raced in Hong Kong and resumes here after a couple of trials. A bold showing is on the cards.
How to play it: Oakfield Utah to win.
Race 6
2. Maxandus performed well in two of his first three starts when placed in a couple of them at this track. He resumed from a spell at Scone as an odds-on favourite and led throughout to score a dominant win. If he can run up to that effort, he can win again here. 9. Quick Sharp was down the track at Scone when resuming but can lift on that and be prominent in this. 10. Amoruso won on debut at Parkes earlier in the year and resumed with a third at Gunnedah. 11. Cosmic Bling was a debut winner at Gunnedah earlier this month and has claims again.
How to play it: Maxandus to win.
Race 7
5. Heathcliff is a well-bred gelding on debut. The son of Snitzel has had two trials and finished third in both. He’s drawn well here and should be primed to run well. 2. Dub loomed as the winner at Scone last time out only to be run down late. 13. Yasena has been racing well with placings at her latest three starts and she has claims again. 3. Invinciboo has been placed in his latest two starts at Armidale and can be thereabouts.
How to play it: Heathcliff to win.
Race 8
3. Nirmata won on debut at Armidale and was then placed at Moree and Scone in his only other two starts. He looks talented and is set to go on with the job in this event. 4. Missy Moss has been in the placings at Warren and Narromine at her latest two starts and should be thereabouts again with a repeat of those efforts. 2. Four Degrees has been out of the placings in his latest two starts but can improve here. 5. Ghaznavi just prevailed at Mudgee last time out and can be prominent again.
How to play it: Nirmata to win.
