Titans reporter Will Boling axed from charter after detailing Cam Ward story

The first rule of the team charter is, you don’t discuss the team charter.

Will Boling, a radio host for Nashville’s 104.5 The Zone, got a harsh reminder of that tenet of covering the NFL last week.

On Monday, The Titans sideline reporter relayed a story straight from the team’s plane after a Dec. 7 victory over the Browns in which Tennessee defensive end Arden Key jokingly told teammates via the intercom to ignore dour postgame comments made by No. 1 NFL Draft pick Cam Ward.

For his troubles, Boling was reportedly removed from the charter, per longtime Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky.

Boling didn’t confirm that when he addressed the incident on Thursday’s episode alongside co-host and ex-NFLer Ramon Foster.

“I want to apologize for sharing something that should have remained private and totally off the record,” Boling said. “I totally understand the team plane and bus are sacred places for players, for coaches, for members of the organization. I take full accountability. I broke their trust with that team by sharing details that were not mine to share. Moving forward, I will work to regain that trust. I sincerely apologize.”

The Titans have not commented on the matter.

Boling will continue his first season as a sideline reporter for the team, a year that has seen the Titans radio team undergo a significant overhaul.

At 2-11, finding good news to share around the Titans hasn’t been easy — and it may not get any easier over the final four weeks of the season.

They face the 9-4 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday, followed by matchups with the Chiefs and Saints at home, then finish against the AFC South-leading Jaguars to close things out.
