The planned March 19 box-office clash between Toxic and Dhurandhar 2 has been called off. Toxic will now release on June 4, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
While Yash has not commented publicly, a source close to the actor denied that the postponement was to avoid competition. “People will say we used the war as an excuse to avoid Dhurandhar 2. That’s not true. We were at risk of losing a key overseas market in the Gulf and the United Arab Emirates. Our distributors urged us to postpone. We had no choice,” the source said, adding that the rival film may also consider delaying its release given the situation.
Addressing the muted response to the song Tabaahi, the source claimed the visuals were not ready at the time of release. “We tried to hold it back, but music channels went ahead without the video. We won’t be releasing the video. We have other songs ready and now more time to roll them out before release.” (SKJ)
