Trainer Peter Snowden would like to see a repeat of the new-look Nazwah’s impressive first-up win when she returns to Warwick Farm on Wednesday with a shot at stakes company on the line.
A lot of effort went into changing the filly’s jump and run style from her first preparation and it paid off when she sustained a long run from off the pace to score on Australia Day.

It’ll be a similar task for her in the Ole Kirk @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1000m) as she’ll likely be asked to chase down Straand Beauty again with a 1.5kg swing against her.
“When she won her maiden she walked in front and sprinted away, her next start at Randwick she went warp speed and capitulated the last 100m,” Snowden said.
“We’re riding her more conservatively, she’s settling better and no doubt she will finish better.
“She settled well the other day, which is what I wanted to see her do because she had a tendency to over race in her first couple of starts. I thought it was a nice performance.
“It’s a similar sort of race so it shouldn’t be any harder for her, she’s gone up a little bit in weight but she’s done particularly well between runs.”
Snowden said he has a few options for Nazwah on the other side of the Sydney Autumn Carnival to chase some black type.
She’s a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Charm Stone so it’s natural to want to chase a stakes win or two.
“It wasn’t a bad race that she ran in [first-up] and especially being a three-year-old filly against older horses,” he said.
“If she runs as well as we hope she’ll have a little freshen up and there’s some nice races for her in Brisbane. We might look at the Denise’s Joy at Scone as well.”
Extra Heights found himself in an unsuitable situation at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago but under the circumstances Snowden said there was plenty to like going into the Kia Bloodlines To Headlines Handicap (1400m).
“He steps to 1400m now and a track like Warwick Farm should be perfect for him. He’ll run well,” he said.
