Travis Kelce looks gutted on sideline after costly drop in Chiefs loss

Chiefs star Travis Kelce became a meme after his nightmare outing in Kansas City’s 20-10 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

After a costly drop that led to a Houston interception, NBC cameras captured the All-Pro tight end sitting slouched on the bench with his eyes closed, clearly frustrated as Kansas City trailed by seven points late in the fourth quarter.

With just over 3:30 left in the game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes launched a pass to Kelce, who got his hands on the ball before it bounced off his chest and was intercepted by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.

Kelce’s dropped pass came during the Chiefs’ last chance to score and tie the game.

He finished the loss with just one catch on five targets for eight yards.

Kelce, 36, declined to take questions after the game, according to ESPN.

The Chiefs’ offense collectively had an awful night — tight end Noah Gray and wideout Rashee Rice both had critical drops.

Mahomes, who had three picks and no touchdowns, explained that he is cherishing his time on the field with Kelce, who could retire after his 13th season.

“Every season I’ve had with him these last few years, I try to…I cherish because you never know,” Mahomes, 30, said. “He got himself in great shape this year, and he’s played great football. He’ll have the option to do whatever he wants to do after this season.

“But I know one thing is, he’ll give everything he has the rest of this season to try to give us a chance to make a playoff run.”

The Chiefs (6-7) will likely have to win the rest of their games to have a chance to make the playoffs.

Kansas City has not missed the postseason since 2014.

Kelce’s fiancée, Taylor Swift, watched from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium with her friends, Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham.

Leonardo DiCaprio, who was a guest on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in September, was also spotted in the suite.

The Chiefs host the Chargers (8-4) in an AFC West clash next Sunday.
