The president departed from Malaysia around 11:10 a.m. Japan time and is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Takai on October 28th. The two leaders will also visit the U.S. Navy’s Yokosuka base, where they plan to board the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington. Through these activities, they are expected to emphasize the resilience of the Japan-U.S. alliance and confirm measures to bolster deterrence in response to China’s increasingly assertive stance in East Asia and North Korea’s ongoing nuclear development.

On the economic front, discussions will include plans to accelerate the implementation of Japan’s proposed 550 billion dollar (approximately 80 trillion yen) investment in the United States. The two leaders are also expected to confirm closer cooperation on rare earth procurement in light of China’s export restrictions, aiming to deepen economic security collaboration between the two nations.
