New Delhi: A Turkish military cargo plane crashed in Georgia on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, near the Azerbaijani border, Turkish and Georgian officials said. Video footage shown on Turkish news channels showed the plane spinning in the sky, falling, and leaving a long trail of white smoke.

Plane was returning to Turkey from Azerbaijan
Turkey’s Defence Ministry said the C-130 military plane was returning to Turkey after flying from Azerbaijan when it crashed. The number of people on board is not yet clear. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan indicated that there were some casualties in the accident, although he did not share any details.
The Defence Ministry said a search and rescue operation has been launched in coordination with Azerbaijani and Georgian authorities.

Georgia’s Interior Ministry said the plane crashed in the Siganaghi municipality of Georgia, near the Azerbaijani border. An investigation has been launched into the accident. President Erdoğan expressed his deepest condolences for the deceased.
The Turkish military extensively uses C-130 military cargo aircraft to transport personnel and strategic materials. Turkey and Azerbaijan have close military cooperation.
