Tyreek Hill promises comeback after Dolphins cut: ‘Turned up and locked in’

For someone who has hinted at an early retirement multiple times throughout his career, Tyreek Hill, who will be released by the Dolphins at 31 years old, doesn’t sound done yet.

Hill penned an Instagram post vowing that the “journey doesn’t stop here” following Miami’s decision to cut him as part of the new Dolphins regime’s plan to overhaul the roster.

“Every chapter in life has taught me something,” Hill wrote, in part. “This one taught me leadership, resilience, and mostly gratitude. The love I have for this game is unexplainable. And right now, this off season, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused.

“… The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever. So to everyone wondering what’s next… just wait on it.”

Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowler who won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs, thanked the Dolphins and their fans after spending four years with the organization following a shocking trade in 2022.

His final year in Miami ended after just four games, though — with Hill tearing his left ACL, dislocating his knee and suffering additional ligament damage during a “Monday Night Football” game against the Jets.

And as the Dolphins struggled with inconsistent quarterback play the last two years, Hill’s production also dipped, with the speedy wideout managing just 959 receiving yards in 2024 and just 265 in 2025 before the season-ending injury.

“From the moment I landed in Miami, I felt the Love,” Hill wrote in his Instagram post. “You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. These past few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career.

“To my brothers in the locker room who have come and gone — Thank You for the wins, the Ls, the memories, the sacrifices. We built something special, together, for the city of Miami.”

Hill’s time in Miami also included multiple off-field issues, though.

In April 2025, Hill was involved in a domestic dispute where police were called in, but no charges were filed.

His estranged wife also alleged in September that there were eight instances of domestic violence dating back to January 2024 that occurred during their 17-month marriage.

At the time, Hill denied the accusations through a statement from his attorney, claiming that they’re a “shakedown” and an attempt to “generate bad media coverage.”

The decision to cut Hill — and edge rusher Bradley Chubb — are just the first of many that new head coach Jeff Hafley and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan will have to make to improve a team that finished 7-10 last season, with a key decision on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa looming.
