Keep an eye on the whistles, particularly ones involving Connecticut star center Tarris Reed Jr.

That could be the key to Friday night’s showdown between the third-ranked Huskies and No. 22 St. John’s at a sold-out Garden.

“Tarris Reed out of foul trouble, I like UConn [to win]. Tarris Reed in foul trouble, I like St. John’s,” a Big East coach, who has faced both teams, told The Post speaking on condition of anonymity.

“If he can somehow get to the second half with one or less fouls, that favors UConn. When he’s on the floor, being physical and dominating in the paint, I think he’s a tough matchup for anyone in the country.”
