Vande Mataram Debate In Lok Sabha: ‘Jinnah Ke Munna’ Jab…, Anurag Thakur’s scathing attack on…

Vande Mataram Debate In Lok Sabha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday started the debate on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram in the second week of the ongoing Winter Session. He slammed the Congress party by targeting former prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru for erasing some lines of Vande Mataram, which he claims ignited the partition of the country. BJP MP Anurag Thakur also slammed Congress and the Opposition by saying that the Muslim League and Muhammad Jinnah had a problem with Vande Mataram, “Jinnah’s Munna also has a problem with it.” Thakur further stated that Rahul Gandhi had promoted singing only one line of the national song.

The BJP MP also took a potshot at Congress leaders and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Vadra for being absent from the Lok Sabha when the special debate on Vande Mataram’s 150 years was going on. “I have heard that she (Prinaka Vadra) has taken days to memorise all the stanzas of Vande Mataram. She is going to recite them all here today”.

“PM Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha has become a historical document that will inspire future generations. Vande Mataram is an energy, but for some people, it is an allergy…In July 2018, Rahul Gandhi had said that recite only one line from Vande Mataram, Nehru ji limited Vande Mataram to two stanzas, and today both brother and sister went missing from the Lok Sabha…,” he said.

The PM also slammed the Grand Old Party’s regime and recalled the emergency rule during the 100th anniversary of the national song.

It is to be noted that the major debate on the Vande Bharat comes amid a political tussle following PM Modi’s accusation that the Congress of removed some lines from the song in 1937. “sowed the seeds of the partition,” he said.

On PM Modi’s accusations, Congress’s Jairam Ramesh said that the decision to remove some lines from Vande Mataram was taken by the then Congress Working Committee (CWC) which included Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rajendra Prasad, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

“The Prime Minister has insulted this CWC as well as Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. That he should have done so is shocking but not surprising since the RSS had played no role in our Freedom Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi,” Ramesh said on X.

Notably, after the debate in the Lower House, the Vande Mataram discussion will take place in the Rajya Sabha tomorrow. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to start the debate.
