Varun Tej And Lavanya’s First Diwali With Their Baby Boy, Vaayuv Tej, ‘This Year Is Very Special…’

Diwali this year is a bit extra special for the Tollywood couple, Varun Tej and Lavanya Tripathi, as their little bundle of joy is joining the festivities. For the unversed, on September 10, 2025, the couple welcomed a baby boy after two years of marital bliss. The new parents are on cloud nine as their little munchkin has stepped into their lives. Every year, Varun and Lavanya head to Chiranjeevi’s house after the puja, and this time it will be their little one who will be accompanying them to the latter’s Jubilee Hills home.

New mom, Lavanya Tripathi, shares how special this Diwali is for them

In a recent interview with Hyderabad Times, Lavanya shares that every year in Diwali, they first perform puja at their home and then head to Varun’s uncle and superstar, Chiranjeevi’s house to celebrate with the rest of the family. She mentioned that this time it will be very special for them as their baby boy, Vaayuv, is here. Sharing her excitement, Lavanya said:

“Every year, we first perform puja at our house and then head to Chiru Mavayya’s house to celebrate with the rest of the family. This year is going to be very special because Vaayuv is here. We’re all looking forward to it.”

In the same interview, Varun shared that around seven in the evening, they will be heading to Chiranjeevi’s Jubilee Hills home and spend the night with the whole family. Recalling the past years of Diwali, the Fidaa actor said that earlier they used to burst crackers, but now it’s the younger kids who will do it. Sharing details about the Diwali celebration, Varun said:

“Around seven in the evening, we head to Chiranjeevi garu’s house and spend the night with the whole family. Earlier, we used to burst crackers ourselves; now the younger kids do, and we just watch. There’s plenty of good food, long conversations, and traditional outfits — for us, it’s all about being together.”

Further in the interview, Lavanya revealed that after delivering little Vaayuv, the new mom has no restrictions on food, and thus, she is enjoying every bit of this phase. Lavanya shared that she has been eating a lot of sweets. Specifically mentioning the sweets, Lavanya said:

“I’m really enjoying the food, especially after just having delivered Vaayuv. I have no restrictions, and this is probably the most indulgent I’ve ever been!  I’ve been eating a lot of sweets, which I normally don’t. I don’t know what happened, I’m just enjoying them more than ever. For me, it has always been rajma, rice, and chole, while everyone else at home enjoys vada and other festive dishes. Both of us love rasmalai and jalebi, but rasmalai is extra special.”

Varun and Lavanya first met on the sets of their 2016 film, Mister, and eventually began dating. The couple appeared together in a few movies, including Mister, Gandeevadhari Arjuna, and Antariksham 9000 KMPH. The duo was in a relationship for six years before getting engaged on June 8, 2023, in Hyderabad. Varun tied the knot with Lavanya on November 1, 2023, in an intimate wedding in Italy with only 100 guests. On May 6, 2025, the couple announced on Instagram that they are expecting their first child. On September 10, 2025, Varun and Lavanya welcomed a baby boy and named him Vaayuv.
