Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison has opened up about her time on the BBC show, as she revealed how the ‘honeymoon period’ with her dance partner Kai Widdrington came to an abrupt end

Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison has disclosed how a wardrobe malfunction during rehearsals brought a swift conclusion to her “honeymoon period” with professional partner Kai Widdrington in the early days of this year’s series.

The former Geordie Shore personality has been showcasing her dancing abilities since September, partnering with Kai Widdrington in pursuit of the prestigious Glitterball trophy.

Yet despite progressing through the opening rounds of the contest, the 37-year-old humorously described how the “honeymoon period” with Kai came to a sudden halt.

Speaking candidly about the awkward moment on her Get A Grip podcast with Angela Scanlon, the television personality recalled one of her initial dress rehearsals with Kai, when she experienced an unexpected “stress period”.

Vicky said: “First day I started Strictly (I had a) stress period. In my dress rehearsal.”

Attempting to resolve the situation, Vicky revealed how Kai sprang into action, explaining: “Kai was like punching heat packs, shoving them down my leggings. The honeymoon period was over.”

Notwithstanding the reality star’s challenges throughout the competition so far, she has continued to wow the judging panel, with her and Kai securing a respectable 23 points for their Cha Cha Cha performance. As the weeks have gone by, the pair’s scores have been climbing week-on-week.

In week two, they secured a score of 24, with a 25 following a week later, and, last week, they soared to a whopping 29 as they danced the Samba.

Vicky has become the latest in a long line of reality TV stars to try their luck in the BBC dancing competition, with previous contestants from the industry having seen mixed success down the years.

One of the latest reality TV stars to compete in the show, Tasha Ghouri, made history, as she became only the second member of the deaf community to take part, following in the footsteps of actress Rose Alying-Ellis.

Strictly fans were left stunned earlier this week after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman brought an end to their time on the show, captioning a joint post on Instagram, saying: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.

“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show.”

They added: “They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day. We will cry when we say the last ‘keep dancing’ but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.”

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return this evening (25 October) at 6.20 p.m. on BBC One.
