Vishal Bhardwaj Reveals The Reason Behind Thanking Aamir Khan In ‘O’Romeo’, ‘He Gave Me This Idea..’

Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri’s film, O’Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj has been grabbing a lot of attention. For the unversed, the film hit the theatres on February 13, 2026. The action thriller movie is said to be inspired by the life of Hussain Ustara. However, did you notice that Vishal Bhardwaj thanked Aamir Khan in the credits of the movie? Now, the director revealed the reason behind it.

Did Aamir Khan help in the plot of O’Romeo?

Recently, much-celebrated filmmaker, Vishal Bhardwaj sat down for a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, during which he revealed the real reason behind Aamir Khan’s name in the opening credits of the movie, O’Romeo. Vishal shared that before the production of the film, Aamir Khan wanted to hear the script. After the same, he gave some creative suggestions to Vishal, which made a huge impact. Vishal Bhardwaj was quoted as saying:

“Aamir wanted to hear the script of O’Romeo. And when he heard it, he gave me this idea, that someone should be killed at a crucial point in the film. Killing the lawyer Anjum Ansari (Resh Lamba) in the restaurant was his idea. This is the reason why I thanked him. This suggestion changed so many things for me.”

Further, Vishal explained the significance of the suggestion and mentioned that after the lawyer is killed, Shahid Kapoor’s character in the film starts to understand that Triptii Dimri’s character can do anything for her revenge. Eventually, the killing of the lawyer becomes the reason ‘Ustara’ falls for ‘Afshan’ and even nurses her when she gets injured. Vishal Bhardwaj shared:

“Because from there, the protagonist, Ustara (Shahid Kapoor) gets attracted towards the girl (Afshan, played by Triptii Dimri). He realizes, ‘Oh my God, she can do anything to exact revenge’. So, he starts taking her seriously and even nurses her back to health after she gets injured.”

The plotline of the film, O’Romeo

The recently released movie, O’Romeo tells the engaging and spine-chilling story of ‘Ustara’ (played by Shahid Kapoor) and ‘Afshan’ (played by Triptii Dimri). It is worth mentioning that the film is based on the book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The plot of the film revolves around ‘Afshan’, who wants to take revenge of her husband from ‘Jalal’. ‘Ustara’ helps her in the same. Apart from the lead, the film also stars Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Rahul Deshpande, Tamannahh Bhatia, Disha Patani, Farida Jalal and more.

According to an earlier report by ABP News, O’Romeo was made on a massive budget of Rs. 150 crore. It is worth mentioning that the film, which was released on February 13, 2026, has earned more than Rs. 30 crore in India. Talking about the cast salary, Shahid Kapoor was the highest paid actor. Reportedly, he charged Rs. 45 crore for his powerful role in the action thriller.
