Savannah Guthrie has halted her life to search for her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, ever since she went missing on January 31, 2026. The investigation seems to have taken a crucial turn after the police searched Nancy’s elder daughter, Annie’s home for three hours. While the police has not named the suspect yet, many believe, Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni are under police radar.

Zack Peter sheds light on why Annie and her husband, Tommaso, seem to be connected with Nancy’s case

The famous American commentator and podcaster, Zack Peter, shared his insights on the recent investigation in Nancy Guthrie’s case. Ever since police searched Annie Guthrie’s residence, the public has been speculating whether she has any connection with her mother’s abduction. As per Zack, Annie and her husband, Tommaso, were the last ones to have dinner with the 84-year-old Nancy on the night of January 31, 2026, when she went missing. There have been speculations that Annie and her husband were potentially involved in it. 

Zack further noted that Nancy had used the Uber service to reach the restaurant to have dinner with her daughter and son-in-law. However, it was her son-in-law, Tommaso, who dropped her off at her home. He also highlighted that he dropped her just moments before her disappearance, and it might be the reason police have been examining every detail of her last interactions.  

Zack further commented and shared his own personal theory regarding the disappearance of Nancy. He added that his comments were speculative based on publicly available information. Peter revealed that Annie might be facing emotional and financial pressures as she is the main caregiver for Nancy.

He even went on to claim that Annie might be ‘jealous of her sister, Savannah, as she was living a ‘great, posh, rich life’ in New York as the host of the Today show for several years. He mentioned that this financial and social gap might be the reason for bitterness and led to Nancy’s kidnapping, as it might be the easiest way for Annie and her spouse to grab the cash. Zack further mentioned that if Nancy has been abducted for financial gain, then they might face great consequences. 

The podcaster even studied the family’s latest video, which was an appeal to the kidnapper. Peter noted that the language used in the video seemed fishy. He stated that they wanted to ‘celebrate’ Nancy and be at peace to see her back, as they had lost all hope of her returning alive. He was quoted as saying:

“Just the wording about saying they wanna ‘celebrate’ with her, saying that this is the only way they’ll be at peace… It kind of seems like they’re not expecting their mother to come back alive. But they’re just at this point wanting to get her body back…I don’t even know how you do at this point. Like…how do you make an exchange like that?”

Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has taken a new turn. On February 8, 2026, People magazine revealed that the law enforcement team searched Savannah’s sister, Annie Guthrie’s home. As per reports, officers searched her property, which is just four miles away from Nancy’s place, where she was last seen at 9:48 p.m. on January 31, 2026.

Cops were spotted outside Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni’s home at night. This development came when the Guthrie siblings released a video pleading with the abductors to bring her home. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department posted on X and provided an update on the matter. They confirmed that so far, no suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. It can be read as:

“The Nancy Guthrie investigation is ongoing. Follow-up continues at multiple locations. No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings. If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called.”

The police further requested that people not come up to Nancy Guthrie’s home, and security will be deployed at Nancy’s residence. Also, they stated that no trespassing has been allowed on the Guthrie’s propery. The statement can be read as:

“At the request of the Guthrie family, PCSD will maintain a presence at Nancy Guthrie’s residence for security. Media & the public are reminded to follow all traffic & private property laws. No trespassing is allowed on the Guthrie property.  Violations are subject to enforcement.”

It is worth mentioning that Annie Guthrie’s house search came after a NewsNation reporter stated that Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni, could be one of the suspects in the matter. However, the officials have not named any suspect. But after Annie’s home has been searched, it adds new doubts to the matter.
