WFAN’s Gregg Giannotti makes wild claim after explosive Brandon Tierney feud

It’s been one day and the Gregg Giannotti-Brandon Tierney feud has another episode.

On his “Boomer and Gio” show Tuesday on WFAN with former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, Giannotti said Tierney’s former producers were celebrating after Giannotti went on a three-and-a-half minute rant Monday about how Tierney was a “bad teammate” in his time with the radio station.

“The celebration that was going on by these guys was just amazing,” Giannotti said. “One after another after another.

“I was like, ‘Down he goes.’ Finally, we can talk about it. I can take my parka off and dance in the streets.’”

Giannotti also claimed Tuesday that one of Tierney’s former co-workers quit the business because of something Tierney did, though Giannotti didn’t specify what exactly happened.

In Giannotti’s original rant, he also accused Tierney of not having a sense of humor, stemming from a prank he and some WFAN staff members played.

They brought in a caller to berate him, and Tierney allegedly wasn’t amused.

He added that Tierney — who was let go by WFAN in December — would often belittle team members and “trash his producers.”

“He is someone who takes things way too seriously, he can’t laugh at himself, and he doesn’t get it. And if he did, and he showed a little bit more personality, maybe he would’ve had more success here,” Giannotti said Monday.

Tierney responded to Giannotti’s claims Monday on his YouTube channel “BT Unleashed,” saying that he and Giannotti have always had a cordial relationship, but he viewed Giannotti’s remarks as a “character assassination.”

He also clarified that when he called Giannotti a “bad teammate,” it was only directed toward the prank, which he didn’t even know it was a gag until “the other day.”

“What I really learned in life is to really not give a flying f–k what anybody thinks about me that doesn’t really know me,” Tierney said. “And Gregg doesn’t really know me, and I don’t really know Gregg, to be fair.

“I will say that it bothered me, I’m not gonna lie to you guys, that bothered me.”

Tierney left WFAN after it changed its lineups at the beginning of the year, effectively ending Tierney and Sal Licata’s “BT and Sal” WFAN show.

Now, Tierney has focused more on his YouTube channel, where he often talks about St. John’s basketball and other New York sports.
