Notably, Delhi Crime also made history by became the first Indian series to win the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in 2020. Its second season also earned Shefali Shah a nomination for Best Actress at the International Emmys, further cementing her portrayal of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi aka Madam Sir.

Ahead of the release of the third season, the actress joined Filmfare for an exclusive conversation where she opened up about the pressure of living up to the legacy of both the show and her character. The actress shared that she fears what if she lets the show down.
Talking about coming back to this character for the third consecutive season and whether Vartika’s evolution parallels Shah’s own evolution as an artist, she continued, “I have never thought of them in comparison or in parallels. I am doing my own thing and Vartika is her own person. Of course, as you grow, your reactions, your response and your thought process change to probably the same situation that happened two years ago. But that’s been Vartika’s growth as well.”
