Where Aaron Glenn stands on Jets’ QB switch after Woody Johnson torched Justin Fields

Aaron Glenn isn’t ready to make the switch Woody Johnson seemingly hinted at Tuesday.

Glenn did not name a Jets starting quarterback on Wednesday, a day after the Jets owner took shots at Jets starter Justin Fields.

“He’s an owner and he has a right to his opinion and when you look at that it’s really something that has been said across the board from everybody, including Justin,” Glenn said. We have to improve, we understand that.”

Glenn cited a competitive advantage in not choosing between Fields and Tyrod Taylor.

The first-year coach also revealed that the veteran Taylor is day-to-day with a knee injury after he replaced Fields during Week 7.

Fields has struggled mightily this season and was benched at halftime of the Jets’ 13-6 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.

The QB switch did not exactly invigorate the offense, with the team scoring three points in 30 minutes under each quarterback.

The Jets signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal this offseason.

“It looks like [Glenn] is turning around part of it,” Johnson said at the NFL’s fall owners meeting in midtown.

“It’s hard when you have a quarterback with the rating that we’ve got. He has the ability, but something is not jibing. If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you are going to see similar results across the league. You have to play consistently at that position, and that’s what we’re going to try to do for the remainder of the season.”

The Jets take on the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sunday while looking for their first win of the season after an 0-7 start.
