While the investigation for the case continues to find the 84-year-old, the FBI has released surveillance images of a masked and armed individual near her home, which made netizens doubt the people who are or once were connected to the family. 

The list also includes Savannah Guthrie’s ex-husband, Mark Orchard. Although the investigators have asked people not to speculate about suspects, Mark is trending online, and here’s what you must know about his whereabouts. 

Where is Mark Orchard now?

According to Mark Orchard’s professional profile, he currently resides in Washington, DC. He has been living a low-key life away from the spotlight for several years now. Additionally, Mark has been focused on advancing his career in broadcast journalism rather than on gaining media attention due to his former marriage. Since 2016, Mark worked as a senior broadcast producer for the investigative news program, Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson. 

Before these roles, Mark had spent a decade working at Al Jazeera as a senior news editor for their English copy. Despite the rocky start, Mark rose to the ranks of executive producer for Al Jazeera America. Initially, he worked as a senior producer for the BBC, including as a White House producer during President George W. Bush’s first term. Despite having renewed attention on himself in the wake of Nancy’s disappearance, the authorities have not indicate that he might have any connection to the ongoing case.

Mark Orchard is a veteran British journalist who began his career at ITN in London. He had pursued his education in philosophy at University College London. Mark’s career took him across major international networks, including the BBC and Al Jazeera, before he carved a stable career in investigative television work in the U.S. He was previously married to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anne Kornblut before meeting Savannah Guthrie in 2005. 

Mark reportedly first met Savannah when they both were covering the high-profile Michael Jackson trial. She was covering the news for Court TV, and Mark worked for the BBC. They eventually fell in love and tied the knot in December 2005, when they both were deeply immersed in demanding journalism careers. However, they built their bond on shared professional experiences. At the same time, they lived a low-profile married life.

What led to the end of Mark Orchard and Savannah Guthrie’s marriage?

Mark Orchard and Savannah Guthrie divorced in 2009 after nearly four years of marriage. Neither of the two ever spoke about the specific reason for their separation. However, Savannah has spoken candidly in recent years about how the divorce took an emotional toll on her. Later, in the 2024 book, Mostly What God Does and subsequent interviews, she described that period as “horrible and sad”, describing how it left her heartbroken with negative feelings about herself. 

She also mentioned that some details are “too personal and too embarrassing” to revisit publicly, but she did not blame anyone for it. Savannah is now married to Michael Feldman after they met in 2008. They tied the knot in 2014 and have two children together.
