Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been married to Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh for more than 50 years. They got married in 1964. Mansoureh was born in 1947 in Mashhad to a religious and relatively well-known merchant family. Her father, Mohammad Esmaeil Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, was a prominent businessman in the city. Although she has been married to one of Iran’s most powerful political figures for more than 6 decades, she has maintained an extremely low public profile.

Some global media outlets have reported that, despite being the wife of one of Israel’s most private personalities, Mansoureh rarely stepped into the limelight. Likewise, she rarely spoke at official ceremonies or state events. Unlike the spouses of many world leaders, she does not maintain a public platform or issue statements. Some documents from that era describe her as managing the household while he faced imprisonment and political pressure. In one of her rare interviews during the ’90s, she revealed that she focused on maintaining family life and stability at home while Ali Khamenei handled state affairs.

However, Iran’s foreign minister has stated that Ali Khamenei is alive “as far as I know,” creating confusion about the Iran’s supreme leader. Yet, there has been no official confirmation from Tehran announcing his death.
