The 54-year-old surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month prison sentence. The case arises from a decade-long financial dispute over a Rs. 5 crore loan taken by Yadav in 2010 for his directorial debut film, Ata Pata Laapata. In 2018, a magisterial court convicted Rajpal and his wife under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act after multiple cheques issued to M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd bounced.

The Delhi High Court temporarily suspended Rajpal’s sentence in June 2024, granting him time to settle his dues, which had reportedly grown to approximately Rs. 9 crore due to interest and penalties. Radha Yadav is the second wife of actor, Rajpal Yadav, with whom he bonded after the untimely death of his first wife. Radha Yadav was convicted alongside her husband in 2018 in a Rs. 5 crore loan-repayment case related to Rajpal’s directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. Both were found guilty of cheque bounce. While the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor was sentenced to jail, the court took a lenient view towards Radha. She was ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 70 lakh but was not sentenced to imprisonment due to her medical condition and the court’s observation that she had signed the cheques at her husband’s insistence.

Rajpal Yadav’s love story with Radha began in 2001 while he was in Canada shooting for the film, The Hero. During a two-month filming schedule in Calgary, Rajpal went out for ice cream with his friend and co-star, Parvin Dabas. It was at the ice cream parlour that he first saw Radha, a Canadian resident of Indian origin, and felt an immediate connection. Radha and Rajpal met that same evening again through a common friend and realised they liked each other. Rajpal even visited her home and met her family during his stay in Canada.

After filming the Canadian schedule of The Hero, Rajpal returned to India. Then the couple’s long-distance relationship started. After keeping in touch over the phone for 10 months, Rajpal eventually confessed his love to her during an early-morning call, to which Radha asked, “Are you sure?” in a mature tone. Well, the actor was more sure about Radha than anything else in his life, and they eventually decided to get married. The couple share a natural chemistry despite a nine-year age gap, with Rajpal being the older one. After the proposal, Radha moved to India to be with him, and they married in an intimate ceremony on May 10, 2003, with their families’ blessings.

Radha Yadav is often praised for the loving bond she shares with Rajpal Yadav’s eldest daughter, Jyoti, whom she embraced as her own after their marriage. Jyoti is the daughter of Rajpal and his first wife, Karuna, who tragically passed away shortly after childbirth due to medical complications. Rajpal Yadav’s first wife was named Karuna. Their marriage was arranged by Rajpal’s father when the actor was just 20 years old and working in a clothing factory.
