A woman has been arrested for attempted murder following a shooting outside Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, was taken into custody on Sunday by police.
The suspect is being held at Metro Detention Centre, the Los Angeles Police Department have confirmed. She has been booked with attempted murder and has a bail of $10,225,000.
A source said yesterday that Rihanna, 38, was at home at the time of the shooting but is unharmed. It’s unsure if her partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children, RZA, three, Riot, two, and five-moth-old Rocki, were at the property.
The LA Times said that Police Sergeant Jonathan de Vera, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department, said no injuries were reported in the incident.
The publication also states that LAPD radio dispatch for the incident said that “approximately 10 shots” had been fired at the residence from a vehicle across the street from the property’s gate. The vehicle, a white Tesla, then fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive.
The suspect was seen driving the Tesla and audio from the dispatch call appears to say that the shots came from “across the street, directed toward the upward gate”.
Officers were called to an “ADW (assault with a deadly weapon) shots fired” call in the Los Angeles area at 1:15 pm on the Sunday.
“When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” Armen Arias, an LAPD spokesperson, confirmed.
The suspect was located soon after and “taken into custody without further incident”. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating the incident and a motive has not yet been ascertained, it has been reported.
Explaining what they heard, one neighbour said: “Bam, bam, bam bam bam, like probably 10 shots. It was scary, but you know, I can’t imagine being in the house because you’re hearing the bullets hitting and that sort of stuff. I have no idea what it could have been, although I know it was just jarring, very jarring in the middle of a nice Sunday afternoon.”
