Pink has condemned as “fake news” widespread reports she has split with her husband, urging “trash news” to “do better”.

The US pop star, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore-Hart, posted a video to her Instagram on Friday morning (AEDT) in response to widely published reports she and her husband of 20 years, former motocross racer Carey Hart, had separated.

The reports were initially published by People magazine and US Weekly, with the stories based on an unnamed source, then picked up by other media.

“I was just alerted to the fact that I’m separated from my husband. I didn’t know, so thank you People magazine, thank you US Weekly, thank you for letting me know. I was wondering, would you also like to tell our children? My 14-year-old and nine-year-old are also unaware,” Pink said.

“Or do you want to talk about some real news? Do you want to talk about the Epstein files, do you want to talk about systemic racism or misogyny in sports, or how classy the women’s hockey team is, or how eight of the 12 medals won in the [Winter] Olympics this year for the US were won by women?”

Pink also noted her nomination for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this week, when she was named alongside INXS, Iron Maiden and Jeff Buckley, among others, as one of the 2026 nominees for induction into the institution.

“Do you maybe want to talk about the fact that I got nominated the first year I was eligible for the Rock & Roll motherf—ing Hall of Fame? Do you want to talk about my accomplishments or do you only want to talk about my supposed demise?” she asked.

“So, fake news, not true, f—ing hate that term. I love you all, go with God, and trash news, you can do better.”

If the reports had been true, it wouldn’t be the first time the pair had split. After first dating in 2001 the pair split in 2003, reunited, then married in 2006.

They separated again in 2008 but got back together in 2009, with Carey later telling People magazine: “We’re rebuilding. Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps backwards to move forward.”

In January 2024 Pink posted a picture of the pair to commemorate their 18th wedding anniversary.

“Love is a lifetime of coming back to the table. We almost didn’t make it to this one, well a couple of them, if I’m being honest,” she wrote in the caption.

A month later the whole family was in Australia enjoying a holiday while Pink performed a series of stadium shows.
