Zara Tindall has arrived at Cheltenham Festival for the opening day, and she’s taken a leaf out of Kate Middleton’s style book with her peacock-green handbag
The first day of Cheltenham Festival is underway, and one of the racing event’s most anticipated guests, Zara Tindall, has already made an appearance. The Royal arrived alongside husband Mike Tindall, and opted for her best county-chic look that included a tailored jacket and matching midi skirt, a pair of heeled boots, and this season’s trendiest shirt style; the pussybow blouse.
She was dressed in head-to-toe navy and peacock green, and accessorised with a fascinator and stylish handbag in matching peacock tones. Her handbag was the style stand out of the look, with Zara opting for one of Kate Middleton’s favourite accessories; Aspinal of London’s Midi Mayfair bag.

The Princess of Wales has been spotted carrying the same bag in various colourways over the years, and it’s a regular staple of her outfits both during formal events and for public engagements. And it seems Zara has taken a leaf out of Kate’s book, picking the bag – in a co-ordinating Deep Shine Peacock Ombre Small Croc colourway – to bring to Cheltenham.
Zara’s exact bag is still in stock at Aspinal, where you can pick it up for £695. You could also pick up the smaller Mini Mayfair bag in a similar dark green croc design for £550 if you want to stick to the Royal-approved style for a little less money.
Another similar design is Strathberry’s £425 Mini Tote which comes in croc-embossed bottle green leather, with both a grab top handle and a shoulder strap. Strathberry’s bags are another firm favourite of both Zara and Kate, giving the bag the royal stamp of approval.
For anyone on a much tighter budget, New Look’s Dark Green Faux Croc Leather Crossbody Bag is now just £14.99 down from £24.99. It is, however, made from faux leather rather than real leather, which the Aspinal and Strathberry bags are made from.
The Midi Mayfair bag Zara was carrying is made from full-grain leather that’s finished in a croc-effect, and has a classic vintage style that still looks both timeless and modern. It closes with an envelope-style fastening, and inside has a grosgrain lining, with a central zip compartment and open compartments either side, making it deceptively roomy.
You can carry it by the top handle, or swap for the detachable chain strap that lets you wear it as either a shoulder bag or a cross body, giving you infinite styling options. It’s finished with gold hardware details, including the brand’s signature shield lock on the fastening to keep your belongings secure.
