Zayn Malik Cheated On Gigi? He Admits Talking To Other Girls, Is Unsure If He Loved Ex, ‘Maybe Lust’

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid started dating in 2015, and they had an on-and-off relationship, which continued for six years. The duo was one of the much-loved couples in Hollywood. It was in 2020, when they welcomed their daughter, Khai and in 2021, they finally parted ways.

The duo’s fans were heartbroken with their breakup; however, they strengthened their bond as parents and kept on focusing on their co-parenting journey. In a recent interview, Zayn Malik said that, he’s unsure whether he was actually ‘in love’ with Gigi Hadid. He also mentioned that during that time, as a younger being, he made a couple of mistakes, and was always in trouble while being in a relationship.

Zayn Malik recently sat for an interview on the Call Her Daddy Podcast, wherein he was asked about his choice to be single for a long time. To this, the singer said that the feeling is kind of liberating, while adding that there’s no disrespect for anyone from his past, but being single has kind of been ‘freeing’ to him, as he feels that there’s no pressure on him. Zayn added that he is a kind of person who runs on his clock, and answers to only himself, and thus being with himself has started to feel like a ‘freeing’ feeling. The singer said:

“No disrespect to people in the past, because people like to take things out of context, it has been freeing, no pressure for me. I am that person who runs on his clock, answers to myself. So it was freeing for me to do things, make plans, and do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Like go to bed whenever I want, eat what I want, and eat on the bed if I want. All kinds of shit, which is cool when you are in a couple.”

In the same interview, Zayn Malik mentioned that the experience has been nice for him, while adding that, as he was young, he used to get into trouble often. Zayn accepted that he also made some mistakes, like talking to someone else when he shouldn’t have. The singer mentioned that people live and learn through this, but being with himself actually allowed him to be guilt-free. He added that he can be free to talk to whoever he wants to talk to, while stating hopefully he will meet someone, and at this stage, he knows that he wants to be committed to them. Zayn could be quoted as saying:

“It has been really freeing. I tend to get into trouble when in relationships because I was young and, you know, did certain things. Spoke to other females when I should not have been, as most people do. You live and learn through it. But this way, there’s no guilt; I can just be free and speak to whoever I want. And hopefully I meet someone I want to be serious with at this time, and this space, and know that I want to be committed to them.”

Going forward in the interview, Zayn Malik mentioned that he’s not sure whether he was ‘in love’ with Gigi during his six-year relationship with the model. He mentioned that he respects Gigi as a human being, a mother of her child, and as a human. In The Zack Sang Show, back in 2024, the singer mentioned that he had never been in love, and in the recent interview, was asked if he stands by his old confession.

To this, he mentioned that his understanding of love is always developing, and he might have thought it was love, but as he has gotten older, he has realised maybe it wasn’t love, but rather lust. He mentioned that he respects ‘G’ so much and loves her, as she is the reason their child is on the earth. However, Zayn shared that he’s not sure whether he was ‘in love’ with Gigi.
