وأفادت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية، أن الزلزال وقع عند الساعة 07:01 صباحًا بالتوقيت المحلي، على بعد 27 كيلومترًا شمال منطقة كاراباليدا الواقعة على ساحل البحر الكاريبي، فيما قدّرت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الكولومبية قوته بـ5.1 درجات.
