More than a few fans were probably surprised, at the very least, to see Brajan Gruda named in Germany coach Jürgen Klopp’s squad on Thursday.
The 22-year-old RB Leipzig player has yet to make his senior international debut, partly because an abdominal muscle injury sidelined him during the last international break.

Nevertheless, Gruda once again made the cut for what is a considerably smaller Germany squad this time around—even though his attacking numbers don’t look all that impressive at first glance. The midfielder has registered two assists in six Bundesliga appearances.
Another statistic, however, really catches the eye. With 6.1 successful dribbles per 90 minutes, Gruda leads the way across Europe’s top five leagues. Global stars Yan Diomande (4.4) and Lamine Yamal (4.3) follow in second and third place.
German football fans can therefore look forward to seeing a genuine flair player in the upcoming games against Serbia and the Netherlands!
