Bed Bath & Beyond’s comeback tour is headed to California.

Just three years after the home goods store shuttered all of its stores during bankruptcy proceedings, the retailer has announced that two new co-branded stores are set to open in the Golden State “immediately” as part of its latest brick-and-mortar revival.

The new stores will be located inside The Container Store locations in Los Angeles and Costa Mesa, according to a release.

The openings are part of a broader rollout that will bring 22 new co-branded Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store stores throughout the country.

The retail reunion comes after both brands survived their own financial issues. Bed Bath & Beyond famously collapsed into bankruptcy in 2023 and The Container Store followed suit in 2024.

Earlier this year, Bed Bath & Beyond’s parent company, Beyond, Inc., announced it was acquiring The Container Store, seeing the stage for the new concept landing soon.

The initial 22 stores are just the beginning, with additional locations scheduled to convert in the “coming several weeks” as the company builds out what it calls its “everything home” ecosystem. Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store

Under the new format, shoppers will find merchandise seamlessly integrated into The Container Store locations, creating what execs describe as a one-stop shop destination for home organization, bedding, decor, kitchen essentials and more.

“Our customers don’t think about their homes in categories,” Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. Marcus Lemonis said in a statement. “For decades, customers have had to visit multiple retailers, websites and service providers to complete a single home project. One company for bedding, another for storage, another for closets, another for installation. That model no longer works.

“We believe the future belongs to businesses that solve complete customer problems. By bringing Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store together, we’re creating a destination where customers can buy products, organize their spaces, design custom solutions and access services all under one roof.”

The California expansion is notable BB&B top brass previously said that they would not reopen traditional standalone stores in the state, citing high operating costs.

Beyond, Inc. has been aggressively piecing together a massive home-goods empire that includes Overstock, buybuy BABY and now The Container Store.
