
Hyderabad:A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped, filmed, and systematically blackmailed over a period of time. Dundigal police said they arrested two individuals and booked them under the Pocso Act.
According to sources, the prime accused, identified as 20-year-old Shiva Kumar alias Mattu, worked at a local tent house near the double-bedroom housing colony in Dundigal. He had allegedly been tracking the movements of the victim who commuted on that route daily.
The ordeal began when Shiva Kumar noticed the victim was alone at her residence, forced his way inside, and sexually assaulted her. He threatened to murder her if she disclosed the assault to any of her family or friends. Terrified by the threat, the minor remainded silent, police said.
Shiva Kumar allegedly escalated the abuse and later brought his accomplice, 30-year-old Ramu from Nizampet, to assault the minor again. This time, the perpetrators captured reportedly explicit photographs and video recordings of the victim. They used the visuals to blackmail her, coercing her to meet them whenever demanded.
The victim finally opened up to the family and narrated her ordeal. Her parents immediately approached the Dundigal police to lodge a formal complaint. The police registered a case under the BNS and the POCSO Act, traced Shiva Kumar and Ramu and arrested them.
Bonthu Family Members Named in Hostel Row
Hyderabad:Panjagutta police registered counter cases following a violent altercation involving the family members of Hyderabad former mayor Bonthu Rammohan and the management of the Asian PG for Girls at Ameerpet. According to police, the dispute was over civil and tenancy issues. Panjagutta police registered both cases and began investigations.
One of the complaints was filed by an aide of Bonthu Sridevi, wife of Rammohan, and her mother J. Boyamma, while a counter complaint was lodged by D. Veera Hanuman, the hostel operator, alleging assault by the hostel warden and associates.
According to the complaint filed by Hanuman, running the hostel at the premises for three years, Sridevi, Boyamma and nearly 30 associates allegedly entered the premises on May 20 and attacked the staff. The complainant alleged that the group was threatening staff and students for the past few days amid a tenancy dispute.
Staff members Rajyalakshmi, Sirisha and Aparna were allegedly assaulted, their phones damaged or snatched, and one woman’s gold chain allegedly went missing during the altercation.
Boini Munni, a follower of Sridevi, alleged that she and her relative visited the hostel in Ameerpet on May 20 to meet an ailing family member staying there. She alleged that while waiting on the ground floor, the wife of the hostel cook verbally abused them. When they questioned them, the warden and the cook’s wife allegedly assaulted them.
Munni alleged that they were pushed, beaten on the cheeks, chest and head, and a stool was allegedly thrown at them during the altercation. She alleged that she lost consciousness and was shifted to a hospital in an ambulance for treatment.
Man Sentenced to 5 Yrs RI in Minor Abuse Bid
Hyderabad:The XII Additional Sessions Judge for Pocso Act cases at Nampally on Thursday sentenced 45-year-old Mohammed Moin Mohiuddin to five years of rigorous imprisonment for an attempt to sexually assaulting a minor in 2024. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
According to the Chaderghat police, the incident occurred on June 7, 2024. The accused lured the seven-year-old victim with the promise of money for chocolates while she was returning from a local madrasa. He took her to a building terrace and attempted to assault her. The victim managed to escape and informed her mother, leading to a police complaint.
The Bharosa support centre played a crucial role by recording the victim’s statement and providing extensive counseling and emotional support to the traumatised family. City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and senior officials commended the investigative team, public prosecutors, and Bharosa support staff for their swift actions and seamless coordination that led to the conviction.
Wrestling Event Leads to Petty Case
Hyderabad:Police registered a petty case for public nuisance after a wrestling competition was conducted at Red Hills Ground on May 17 without formal approval, and witnessed an altercation among participants.
According to police, organiser Syed Azam approached authorities seeking permission to conduct the event. Nampally inspector Saidulu said approval was not granted due to the short notice period. Despite this, the organiser went ahead with the competition at the ground.
Police said a minor altercation broke out during the event, briefly creating commotion at the venue. Police clarified that no assault took place and there were no reports of injuries. “Those involved admitted it was in the heat of the moment,” police said, adding that the situation was quickly brought under control.
Police said the ground houses a coaching centre where wrestlers regularly practice and train.
Car Loses Control, Rams Into Vehicles, Crashes Into Eatery
Hyderabad:An electric car driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle in Kukatpally on Wednesday afternoon, rammed into several vehicles and eventually crashed into a roadside tiffin centre. The vehicle was travelling from Vivekanandanagar towards Allwyn Colony, police said.
The car first hit a motorcycle which threw the rider on to the road. It swerved across the road and crashing into multiple parked vehicles. The e-car finally came to a halt after ramming into a tiffin centre. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras and did rounds on the social media platforms. Police said the driver claimed the accident occurred due to brake failure. He was arrested.
Kukatpally police said that preliminary checks ruled out drunk driving as a cause of the accident. Investigation was underway to determine the circumstances that led to the mishap and whether any technical or mechanical fault in the vehicle contributed to it.
