Not to get all “my steak is too juicy” or anything, but man, there is too much TV. We used to have only a little TV. Two or three at a time, tops. Back then, a series survived on its merits — either people chose to watch it over the other two choices in the 8:00 p.m. time slot or they didn’t. Now, it seems like the airwaves are jammed with shows you’ve never even heard of that are somehow in their 24th season.
On the flip side, however, it’s easy for the quality stuff to get lost in the shuffle. Maybe it wasn’t given the right push by the right streamer, maybe it was full of nobodies, maybe it just got buried under the weight of a seemingly infinite number of choices. Whatever the case, a show that should have been a bulls-eye ends up forgotten on the barroom floor of TV history.
