It was revealed in the statement that they did their best to save her life, and CPR was given and she was rushed to the hospital; despite this, she never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead later. The statement can be read as:
“On October 11th at around 8:49 AM, a participant on the half course of the Seoul Race collapsed at the 20.6km mark. After first aid on the scene, they were transported to a medical facility by ambulance and received treatment, but unfortunately, they passed away. We also offer our heartfelt condolences to the participants who were deeply saddened by the news of the departed’s passing.”
The organizing committee added that it was closely monitoring the situation and would take necessary follow-up measures while expressing its condolences to the family. A fellow runner and content creator, Bummy, recalled her last moments and said he noticed a large crowd forming near the finish area and thought someone might have been hurt.
It was later that he found out about Yoo’s passing, and he rushed to the hospital to see her one last time, but he couldn’t stay with her until the very end. Taking to Instagram, he wrote:
“Near the finish line of the Seoul Race, I saw a crowd gathering and thought someone must have been hurt. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I looked for you on the awards podium, but then I heard the unsettling news and began to sense a reality I didn’t want to believe. I dropped everything and rushed to the hospital, hoping to see you one last time, but I am so sorry I couldn’t stay by your side until the very end.”

Another racer who witnessed the whole moment of Yoo’s collapse talked about her last moments. The user in Korean mentioned that he helped find the right person when Yoo collapsed on the ground. Although, he knew CPR but didn’t know if it was needed, he thought of finding a medical professional, but his voice couldn’t go far due to the cheers.
Then he found the police officer and brought him to the scene, but he couldn’t do much about the whole situation, so they waited for 911, and it came much later, and CPR was given to her. But Yoo didn’t regain consciousness after the CPR, and she was taken in the ambulance. He said they should arrange a better response system to help an individual in these extremely distressing situations.
