Kakinada: As many as 28 people fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at Rammohanraopeta in Kothapeta mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Thursday after consuming food at a wedding function.
The affected persons developed symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea and were admitted to the Government Hospital in Kothapeta for treatment. Hospital authorities said their condition is stated to be stable.
Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav directed medical officials to provide advanced treatment to the patients. Doctors informed him that all the admitted persons were stable.
Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao visited the hospital and enquired about the condition of the victims, assuring them of better care and early recovery.
Agriculture and Konaseema in-charge minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu reviewed the incident with the district collector and local officials. He directed health authorities to ensure proper medical care and instructed officials to take preventive steps to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
