Karimnagar: A 3-km-long 33KV interlink line was commissioned in Rajanna Sircilla district on Saturday to improve power supply reliability.

The project, charged in the presence of chief engineer (operations) B. Ashok and superintending engineer (operations) T. Venu Madhav, will serve as an alternative supply line to the 33/11KV Kothapally substation in the Gambiraopet section, reducing outages for consumers.

Reviewing power infrastructure, the superintending engineer said 13 new substations have been sanctioned to address load issues. Technical measures include installation of fault passage indicators for quicker fault detection and segregation of 19 bunched breakers to stabilise voltage.

He said assets worth Rs 23 crore were created in the past month through the capitalisation of over 2,000 work orders.

In the agriculture sector, 902 new service connections were released and 55 additional transformers installed. The official said 166 power loom services were shifted to a new category, reducing monthly power charges by 60 per cent.

He added that subsidised or free connections are being extended to low-income households and anganwadi centres, while the department is bearing the cost of service lines and transformers for distances up to one kilometre.
