40% of Hyderabad Voters Might Get Notices From EC

Hyderabad: Close to 40 per cent of voters in Hyderabad district and 65 per cent in the adjacent Medchal-Malkajgiri district are most likely to get notices from the election authorities ahead of the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll as they are bracketed as ‘voters with anomalies’. They have to prove that they were voters during the SIR conducted in 2002, by submitting relevant during proofs, during the process which begins from June 25.

By the time the officials wrapped up the process of voter-mapping on June 12, Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri had completed only mapping of 46.15 per cent and 43.3 per cent of voters, totaling 21.86 lakh and 12.89 lakh respectively.

Secunderabad Cantonment with 52.92 per cent voters mapped, followed by Amberpet constituency (48.95) had the maximum anomalies in Hyderabad district. The fewest anomalies were found in Nampally Assembly constituency (28.8 per cent). In Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Medchal Assembly constituency was found have the fewest number of voters with anomalies at 47.18 per cent, which Quthbullapur topped the chart with over three-fourth of the voters —77.82 per cent — listed with ‘anomalies’.

Across the state, close to 90 lakh voters —35.73 per cent of the total 3.38 crore electors — were found to be having ‘anomalies’. However, only 70 per cent of the electorate had been mapped when the exercise conclude.

The best performing districts were Jangaon with 94.47 per cent voters mapped and Mahbubabad at 93.37. It was over 80 per cent in Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Peddapalli, Rajanna-Sircilla, Medak, Siddipet, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri-Bhongir, Bhadradri, Mulugu and Narayanpet districts.
