The 49ers worked out nine different players Tuesday.
Wide receivers Brenden Rice (the son of franchise legend Jerry Rice), Dante Pettis (former 49ers players), Brady Body, Quentin Skinner and Malik Turner had a tryout for San Francisco.
The wide receiver group is ailing with Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, De’Zhaun Stirbling, Demarcus Robinson and Mike Evans all sidelined with injury. Rice, 24, presents an interesting option for the 49ers as he’s been quite the journeyman since being drafted by the Chargers in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rice failed to make the Chargers roster out of camp and has made stints with the Patriots, Seahawks, Raiders and Packers. The wideout has yet to play in an NFL game.

Former UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson also worked out for the team along with defensive backs Cobee Bryant, Corey Ballentine and Sam Webb. Bryant spent the 2025 season with the Falcons under 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
The trio of corners trying out may signify there is a surprise injury amongst that group.
The 49ers cut defensive end Vincent Anthony Jr. from the practice squad Tuesday, opening up a spot that could be used on one of the many tryouts.
