On NFL Network Sunday morning, Mike Garafolo provided an injury update for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans:

He is not playing today after the bye week. Had that Achilles issue that popped up beforehand. He’s dealing with some tendonitis there. We know how painful that can be.

He’s not going to play today. I would say he’s questionable, at best, for next week’s game as well. We’ll see how the week goes there. He is improving. He is working his way back. But Christian McCaffrey dealt with this a couple of years ago, so the 49ers know how painful and debilitating it can be.

Speaking of McCaffrey, that hamstring injury, off the injury report. Expected to have a full workload today against the Raiders. That is great news there for the 49ers.

And terrific news for the 49ers is Nick Bosa set to return to action today. Said he felt great, with the bye week helping him with one more week of rest right there. He is returning to action today, for the first time since September. Awesome news for the 49ers.

If the 49ers are going to be cautious with Evans, it’ll be interesting to see if that changes how aggressive they’ll be ahead of the trade deadline at wide receiver. The team gets Demarcus Robinson back, but is still without Evans, Deebo Samuel, and now Christian Kirk.

It makes little sense to give McCaffrey a full workload. Today should be a Kaelon Black game for the 49ers, especially if the game gets out of hand and they have a lead in the second half.

We’ll see if Bosa is on a similar pitch count to Mykel Williams, who played anywhere from 20 to 25 snaps in his first couple of games back.
